Bout of Books 10 - I'm Participating! | 12-18 May

Bout of Books
Hi fellow book lovers,

It's that time again, the next Bout of Books Readathon is now open for sign-ups. The 10th Bout of Books Readathon is running from Monday 12th May until Sunday 18th May and I'm participating again :-) I have no scheduled reads as of yet but I'll post a TBR in the few days before with my intended goals and reads.
Is anyone else signing up already?

The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 12th and runs through Sunday, May 18th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 10 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team.

Book Haul | April 2014

In April, I splashed a little cash and treated myself to some popular books I've been pining over for a little while. Most of these you will know, other you may not.

Be sure to leave me a comment with your thoughts on any of these books I haul or which one you'd like to see a full review for.

BookTuber/Book Blogger Interview with Caitlin - The Y.A. Bookworm Blogger (Interview #14)

Hi fellow readers and welcome back for another booktuber/blogger interview.

This fortnight's booktuber/blogger is Caitlin from The Y.A. Bookworm. Caitlin's blog is one I check everyday for updates and her addition to booktube recently has made me love her content even more. She's brings a fresh bubbly personality to her reviews, blogposts and videos which I find uplifting and fun to watch. Here's Caitlin's answers to the BookTuber/Blogger Interview Questions. Enjoy.

Please describe your channel and the type of books which you enjoy reading.
My name is Caitlin, I’m seventeen years old and run a booktube channel I started earlier this year. I post a variety of videos on my channel; hauls, reviews, wrap ups, tags, and many more! I've also got some series and discussion videos planned for the future!
I read a wide variety of novels within Young Adult and New Adult fiction. Out of all the books I read though, romance (or books with strong romantic pairings) are my favourite kinds of reads….A book that makes me swoon is a book worth reading in my opinion, haha!

What made you decide to start your channel and what are the main reasons you keep making videos?
The main reason I decided to start my channel two months ago was to take the next step in growing my blog and connecting with my readers. Running a book blog for the past two years really opened my eyes to the awesomeness of connecting with bookish people via the internet, and once I discovered booktube, I was pretty much determined to start a channel of my own. It took quite some time before I actually got my first video up, but thankfully I faced my fears and am SO glad I did! The tremendous support I’ve received from both the community and fellow book lovers, in addition to sharing my love for reading, have really encouraged me to continue making videos people (hopefully) enjoy! :P

What is your favourite book?
I am terrible at choosing favourites…it’s like asking a mother to choose between her children— impossible! One of my recent favourites though is Sweet Reckoning by Wendy Higgins, the concluding novel to the Sweet trilogy. It releases on April 29th, 2014 and all I’ve got to say is prepare for epic-ness….and LOTS of good Kaidan material! ;) *swoons*

If you could read one genre for the rest of your life, which genre would you choose?
If you can’t already guess, it would be romance, romance, and more romance! There’s something just so addicting about rooting for the perfect couple to make it out with a happily ever after….I also think romance adds lots of depth to a story. It allows readers the opportunity to see a more intimate and vulnerable side of characters that you may not have been exposed to without it!

If you could live in any book world created, which would you choose?
Most definitely Cassandra Clare’s shadowhunter world. It’s filled with tons of history and fascinating creatures….plus, I wouldn’t mind being a bad ass shadowhunter like Isabelle! Black is also one of my favourite colours to wear, so I think I’d fit in well! :P

What has been your best/favourite booktubing moment so far and why?
The moment that stands out to me the most would definitely be reaching 1000 subscribers! I never thought that I would receive such a welcoming response from the community, and it was kind of overwhelming to see that so many people cared enough to hit that subscribe button! I wish I could hug every single one of them!

Where do you store/show-off your books and how many do you own in total?

I store my books in my library (AKA, the spare bedroom in my house that we converted into a mini bookshelf heaven). As for how many books I own, let’s just say that if I didn’t have a room to store them in, I’d be living under piles of books (…which now that I think about it, doesn’t sound so bad)!

Where is your usual place to read and what would your dream reading place look like?
I usually read either in my bed or in my library. I consider my library to be my dream reading place, so if your interested in what it looks like, I’ve included an image and you can see my full tour, here!
Lastly, which blogs/channels can we usually find you stalking when you're not creating content for your own channel?
When I’m not busy filming/editing/writing, you’ll see me visiting epicreads.com, mundiemoms.blogspot.ca, and any and all BookTube videos that appear on my feed. I also love watching beauty gurus…two of my favs are missglamorazzi and essiebutton!
Thank-you so much for having me on your site Samantha! These were so much fun to answer!

My recent hiatus - Videos still being uploaded though

Hi guys,

Long time no see. Sorry for my recent absence from this blog, life has become pretty hectic recently but mostly because I'm currently house hunting - I'm looking for my own place finally! Goodbye parents house and hello my very own house to fill with lots of book related goodness. I've already requested a custom-made bookcase to be made by my dad :-).

I haven't actually got a house secured at the moment but I've managed to narrow it down to a couple of options, fingers crossed I'll be able to complete any sales soon and be in the new house before summer truly hits. I can just imagine myself sitting in the garden reading a book and sipping cold lemonade already.

As I'm still looking for a place, I may still be absent for the foreseeable future as a lot of my time is house viewing and searching the internet for new properties at the moment. I do still have BookTuber/Blogger Interviews every fortnight so there's is some content being posted on Cold Tea and Crumbs. I've got a very special interview posting tomorrow with the lovely Caitlin from The Y.A. Bookworm Blogger. I am still reading in my spare time too though so I will have lots of reviews posted once I have some extra free time available. There's also still BookTube videos uploads on Fridays so make sure you're subscribed to my YouTube channel for new content from me on a weekly basis. I also update my Goodreads and Twitter daily so you can always find out what I'm doing there first :-)

Hopefully be back to blogging regularity soon :-)

Thanks,
Sam

BookTuber/Book Blogger Interview with Miranda from Bookss101 (Interview #13)

Hi fellow readers and welcome back for another booktuber/blogger interview.

This fortnight's booktuber/blogger is Miranda from Bookss101, the readathon creator and Australian sweetheart. Miranda has such fun and unique content - Check out her How I Read Shatter Me Video and the Book to Move Adaptation Marathon she's hosting this month with some other booktubers.
Here's Miranda's answers to the BookTuber/Blogger Interview Questions. Enjoy.

Please describe your channel and the type of books which you enjoy reading.
My channel is called BooKss101 and like the name it is a channel devoted to books, books and more books. On my channel I do everything book related from book hauls, tags, book to movie adaption reactions etc. I enjoy reading YA books with all the usual teen love triangles and supernatural themes.

What made you decide to start your channel and what are the main reasons you keep making videos?
I decided to start my channel as I have a love for reading and wanted to share it with others. A lot of my friends don’t read the same books as I do so it is hard to find people that have the same interest in books. Starting my channel I was able to connect with people that have the same passion as I do and meet new friends. I keep making videos as everyday my AWESOME subscribers always support me and love my videos and that inspires me to go on.

What is your favourite book?
My favourite book is Passion by Lauren Kate. I think because I have always been interested in past lives and having lived again through centuries. I loved seeing Luce as how she was going through time and seeing how Daniels love throughout the centuries for her never faded.

If you could read one genre for the rest of your life, which genre would you choose?
I would read Romance. I am a major romance reader.. anything to do with Romance I am there!

If you could live in any book world created, which would you choose?
I would live in the Mortal Instrument world as I would love to be a Shadowhunter and kick some demons ass.

What has been your best/favourite booktubing moment so far and why?
I have had so many amazing moments on BookTube but I think one of my greatest moments was reaching 1000 subscribers. It is amazing because when you first start booktubing you think 100 is big but when you get to 1000 you start thinking WOW there are 1000 people that are out there that follow me and enjoy what I do.

Where do you store/show-off your books and how many do you own in total?
I show off my books on my bookshelf which is behind me in most of my videos. I own around 200 books and that is growing ;)

Where is your usual place to read and what would your dream reading place look like?
My usual place to read is on my blue couch. It has perfect sunlight for reading and is so relaxing to read on. My dream would be to have an awesome library in my future house and for the walls to be covered in books with a comfy chair in the middle of the room.

Lastly, which blogs/channels can we usually find you stalking when you're not creating content for your own channel?
I stalk a lot of people... I would say polandbananasBOOKS the most. Her channel and content is always interesting. I also love my Booktube friends channels (so many to name). I would say basically if you have a BookTube channel I am most likely stalking you! :)
